"Winter is Coming..."
Up here in the Pacific Northwest we are about to enter the time of year where we really earn our reputation for rainy and gray weather days. Signs of fall are everywhere, and you can feel the hours of darkness coming.
With that in mind, due to our ridiculous number of hours of daylight in the summer, my guess is that your sleep schedule got a little out of whack. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, if you're not taking care of yourself by getting a solid 8 hours of sleep, you are setting yourself up for some big time trouble as you age. If you're trying to lose weight, or have big performance goals, not having good sleep hygiene is holding you back. No question about it.
Don't believe me? Here is a great article from the Independent from just a couple of days ago!
My favorite quote: “Once you know that after just one night of only four or five hours’ sleep, your natural killer cells – the ones that attack the cancer cells that appear in your body every day – drop by 70 percent, or that a lack of sleep is linked to cancer of the bowel, prostate and breast, or even just that the World Health Organisation has classed any form of night-time shift work as a probable carcinogen, how could you do anything else?”
